Installs, modifies, maintains and repairs electronic instruments and control systems. Some of the tasks that the employee might be asked to perform include installing electronic instruments and control systems, examining and testing faulty electronic instruments and control systems to diagnose faults, and repairing and maintaining electronic instruments and control systems.
Work Settings
Manufacturing floor or tool room setting. The average workweek is 40 hours. Shift work and overtime is common. Many manufacturers operate 24 hours/day.
Education
High school diploma or GED and through on-the-job training supplemented by courses at a trade or technical school. Employees must be able to apply knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic principles in control system commissioning and maintenance.
