Lab/Engineering Chemical Technician Performs a variety of chemical tests of organic and inorganic materials to determine their composition, structure, and chemical or physical properties, to ascertain conformance to specifications for control purposes, determines additional uses or develops new materials for a specific use. Utilizes laboratory test equipment and apparatus, arranges and modifies equipment for optimal functioning and to meet test objectives. Records test results and prepares reports for analysis and evaluation by chemist.
Work Settings
Office, lab and manufacturing floor settings. The average workweek is 40 hours. While many manufacturers operate 24 hours/day, this position usually works during first shift.
Education
Requires specialized training or experience equivalent and more than 2 years of on-the- job experience.
